Anna Zimmermann completed her Master’s in Design Products at the Royal College of Art in London in 2024. In her final project, she took a critical look at gender-specific craftsmanship, particularly metalwork, which has traditionally been dominated by men. In response, she founded the ‘Feminist Welding Club’ to teach women how to weld and create a space for learning and self-empowerment. She designed and welded a break room for the club’s future workshop – including a table, clock, vase and stools made of aluminium. For Anna Zimmermann and the club members, welding became a powerful expression of community and feminist practice.
